Mary Hermanson

Mary E. Hermanson, 93, of Waukon died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Hanover Cemetery, rural Waukon.
Mary Ellen Hermanson was born October 31, 1920, the daughter of Jeremiah and Maude (Marsden) O'Hare in Waukon. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Hanover Catholic Church in rural Waukon. Mary attended rural country schools in the Waukon area and Waukon High School.
February 8, 1937 she married Richard Francis Hermanson at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon. Mary was a sales person for Fuller Brush Company for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and devoted to her prayer time. Mary enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Richard James (Linda) Hermanson of Waterville, Shirley (Ray) Wacker of Boscobel, WI and David (Angie) Hermanson of Hopkinton; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, William (Janet) O'Hare of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, who died in 1988; a son, Robert Vincent Hermanson; an infant grandson, Sam Allan Hermanson; and a sister, Loretta Snitker.
Casketbearers are Cary, Brian, Devin and Mason Hermanson, and Ray and Steve Wacker.
