Kee boys basketball team falls in trio of road games during busy week

The Kee boys basketball team suffered from some slow starts it could never quite recover from in falling in all three of its contests this past week. The Hawks fell in back-to-back nights of road games, 70-39 at Waukon Monday, January 5 and 76-42 at West Central Tuesday, January 6, before suffering a similar fate at Central Elkader, 64-52, Friday, January 9.
“It was a tough week in a variety of ways,” Kee boys basketball coach Pat Wagner said. “Our schedule was strong. We played arguably the two best teams on our schedule on back-to-back nights and then traveled to Elkader Friday after weather problems kept us out of the gym on Wednesday and Thursday. And we cannot afford to not be in a gym.  However, we can’t and won’t make any excuses; we simply  have to get better.”
Holding a 1-10 overall season record, 1-7 in the Upper Iowa Conference, the Hawks were scheduled to remain on the road this week, playing at Edgewood-Colesburg Tuesday, January 13 before doing likewise at Postville Friday, January 16. Kee will then return home for two consecutive home games, against Turkey Valley Tuesday, January 20 and De Soto, WI Thursday, January 22, before traveling to West Salem, WI to play Coulee Christian Friday, January 23.
