The Kee softball team suffered through a rarity of recent times this past week, coming up short of victory in every one of its games played during the week. The Lady Hawks suffered their worst loss of the season, 17-7 in six innings, to a nearly undefeated Class 3A Crestwood squad on the road Tuesday, June 9 before being swept at home Wednesday, June 10 by Sumner-Fredericksburg for two of their narrowest losses of the season by scores of 5-4 and 3-2. Kee also had its Thursday, June 11 home doubleheader with South Winneshiek postponed to Tuesday, June 16 by stormy weather.
“We had a few tough losses this past week, but we are playing better ball due to the difficult competition,” Kee softball coach Liz Hill said.
The Kee diamond dwellers were scheduled to play at West Central, Monday, June 15, but had that game postponed to an unknown date as of this printing due to Monday’s rainstorms. The Hawks were then set to make up that June 11 home postponement against South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 16 before playing at North Fayette Valley Thursday, June 18 and at Class 3A top-rated Benton Community Friday, June 19. The Lady Hawks will then have a busy end to this next week, playing games on three consecutive days after being competition-free early in the week. Kee will play at Turkey Valley Thursday, June 25 and at Tripoli Friday, June 26 before competing in the Decorah Tournament Saturday, June 27.
