Kee softball team’s undefeated week includes UIC sweeps, Decorah Tournament title

The Kee softball team posted an undefeated week on the diamond this week, recording a pair of road sweeps in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play before also sweeping its way to the Decorah Tournament title Saturday, June 27. The Lady Hawks opened the week with a Wednesday, June 24 UIC doubleheader at West Central, sweeping the June 15 make-up twinbill by scores of 12-1 in six innings and 9-1. Kee then did likewise at Turkey Valley Thursday, June 25, 4-0 and 6-2, before having a Friday, June 26 non-conference date at Tripoli canceled from the schedule. The Lady Hawks wrapped up their unblemished week with three straight wins at the Decorah Tournament Saturday, including a 1-0 first-round win over Osage, another 1-0 win, this time in extra innings, in the tournament semifinals over Class 4A Perry and a 5-1 championship triumph over St. Ansgar.
With a Tuesday, June 30 home date with East Buchanan also being removed from their schedule, the Hawks were scheduled to host MFL/MarMac Monday, June 29 before playing at Waukon Wednesday, July 1, but stormy weather forced postponement of that June 29 date with MFL/MarMac to July 1, thereby wiping Kee’s game at Waukon off of this season’s schedule as well. The Lady Hawks will next host Clayton Ridge Thursday, July 2 and then wrap up their regular season at the two-day Don Bosco Tournament Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4. Kee will then begin postseason tournament play Wednesday, July 8 by hosting either Central Elkader or Edgewood-Colesburg.
