The Waukon softball team finished up its regular season this past week, starting off on a high note before surrendering its final four games of the regular season to end up with a 7-18 regular season record that included a 2-13 mark that places the Indians sixth in the final Northeast Iowa Conference standings. That positive start to this past week saw the softball Tribe pull out a 7-6 home win over New Hampton Monday, June 29 in a game rescheduled from June 11 before the Chickasaws returned that favor twice as hard the following night by scores of 15-7 and 7-5. The Indians then closed out their regular season with a home doubleheader loss to Class 3A 14th-rated Crestwood by scores of 9-3 and 12-2 in six innings Thursday, July 2.
A Wednesday, July 1 home game with Kee was canceled due to Kee having to make up its June 29 Upper Iowa Conference game with MFL/MarMac.
The softball Tribe will now begin postseason tournament play Wednesday, July 8 at North Fayette Valley.
