Willard Halverson

Willard C. Halverson, 92, of rural Waukon died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Funeral services were held Friday, August 21 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with Pastor Stacey Nalean-Carlson officiating. Burial was at Union Prairie Cemetery, rural Decorah.
Willard Carlton Halverson was born February 13, 1923 in Decorah. His family moved to Austin, MN, and when Willard was six years old, he returned to rural Waukon to live with his uncle, Ben Teslow. Willard attended the Bell School country school and started farming with his uncle. He then helped farm with several neighbors until purchasing his own farm in Allamakee County. Willard loved being on the farm and raised dairy cows, pigs, chickens and grew grain.
April 15, 1972 he married Eda Skaidrite Blaksenieks at the Justice of the Peace in Caledonia, MN. Willard was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed meeting friends and visiting.
Willard is survived by his wife, Eda, of rural Waukon and his sister, Ethel Ollman of Salinas, CA. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Honorary casketbearer was Roger Kruger. Casketbearers were Roger Quandahl, Frank Sivesind, Gregg Shattuck, Gary Kubitz, Mark Kvammen and Dave Martin.
