It took the most balanced overall effort of the season for the Waukon football team to remain undefeated Friday, September 18 when the Indians faced cool, rainy weather and Dyersville Beckman, the first of back-to-back opponents from their own district who played all the way to the Class 2A State Play-Off Semifinals last season. A season-low 142 yards through the air were complemented nicely by a season-high 162 yards on the ground for the Indians, but a staunch defensive effort that limited the visiting Trailblazers to just 149 yards of total offense furthered that complete balance to result in a 14-3 victory for the Indians.
The Indians remain atop the Class 2A District 3 standings as the district’s lone undefeated team at 4-0. Perhaps the greatest challenge to that undefeated mark looms in front of the Indians this Friday, September 25 at defending Class 2A State Champion North Fayette Valley. The TigerHawks hold a 3-1 overall season record, including a 2-0 mark in Class 2A District 3 that includes a 38-15 win at Oelwein this past Friday.
