Kee cross country team competes at Jesup Invitational

The Kee cross country team competed in its largest meet so far this season, taking part in the Jesup Invitational Tuesday, September 29 that featured 30 teams, 25 of those being able to post team scores. The Hawks did not have enough runners in any of the evening’s races to compile a team score.
Sophomore Nicki Wood was the lone female competitor for the Hawks at the event. She clocked in at a time of 23:19 to finish 76th out of 156 runners in the varsity girls race.
The Kee varsity boys had just four runners competing at Jesup, not enough for a team score. Junior Evan Whalen continued to pace the Hawk effort, finishing 150th out of 179 runners in the varsity race with a clocking of 21:38. Sophomore Jack Mooney was next in line with his 161st-place finish in 22:28, with the freshman pair of Ryan Whalen and Jacob Berns rounding out Kee’s varsity effort in 163rd in 22:32 and 177th in 25:48, respectively.
The Hawks will next compete Thursday, October 8 at New Hampton before taking part in the Upper Iowa Conference Meet to be held at Central Elkader Thursday, October 15. Kee will then prepare for its Class 1A State Qualifying Meet scheduled for Thursday, October 22 at a site that has yet to be determined.
