Waukon volleyball team plays through winless week in pair of duals and Columbus Tournament

The Waukon volleyball team battled through a busy week without a win, falling in a pair of dual matches before being swept in three additional matches at a weekend tournament. The Indians were swept at home by MFL/MarMac Monday, September 28, 23-25, 22-25 and 19-25, in a match rescheduled from September 8, and then fell at New Hampton Tuesday, September 29 by scores of 16-25, 17-25 and 7-25. The Tribe’s troubles continued against some formidable opponents at the Waterloo Columbus Tournament Saturday, October 3, the Indians being swept in three consecutive matches by BCLUW and Class 4A top-15 rated Independence and Marion to miss out on advancing out of the tournament’s pool play round.
Holding a 5-17 season record, 0-4 in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the Indians were scheduled to host their final home match of the season Tuesday, October 6 against Class 4A seventh-rated Charles City. The Tribe netters will then play at the Hudson Tournament Saturday, October 10 before wrapping up their regular season dual schedule at Decorah Tuesday, October 13.
