Volunteers needed in order to make Waukon Corn Days a success

Waukon Corn Days has been scheduled for August 19-21 and the Corn Days Committee is in need of volunteers. In order for this year’s Corn Days to run effectively and efficiently, several volunteers are needed to handle necessary tasks to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

"Waukon Corn Days is a great opportunity to volunteer in the community," members of the Committee shared. "Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in. It is a fact that volunteers are critical to the success of community events."

More specifically, volunteers are needed during the following times and events:

• Thursday, August 18 (afternoon/evening): Volunteers to husk corn, beginning at 1 p.m., in the Industrial Technology workshop area on the east side of the Waukon High School/Middle School building.
• Friday, August 19 - 4-6 p.m.: Workers to serve the Corn Days Meal.
• Friday, August 19 - 6-9 p.m.: Workers to serve/clean up the Corn Days Meal.
• Saturday, August 20 - 8-11:30 a.m.: Set up and volunteer for Kids Day at Waukon City Park.
• Saturday, August 20 - 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.: Clean up and volunteer for Kids Day at Waukon City Park.
