Home ›VMH’s 5K Cardiac Classic Free Fun Run/Walk during Waukon Corn Days deemed a success; Public welcome to run 5K route
Veterans Memorial Hospital sponsored its 23rd annual 5K Cardiac Classic Run/Walk Saturday, August 20 in conjunction with the Waukon Corn Days celebration. Despite the rainy weather, over 70 runners and walkers participated.
Tyler O’Neill and Jeremy Peake, both of Waukon, were the first to cross the finish line, doing so simultaneously. Katie Brennan of Lansing was the first female to cross the line. All those participating in Saturday’s event received complimentary reflective wrist bands for safely walking and running early mornings and later evenings. Free diabetes/blood sugar tests, hemoglobin tests and massages were also offered to all participants.
Due to the inclement weather that Saturday, the hospital would like to invite the public to still complete the 5K route anytime over the next few weeks. Those interested may stop by the reception desk at the front entrance of the hospital any day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to pick up a 5K map and goodie bag, as well as a pair of complimentary reflective wristbands. Then follow the orange painted arrows on the streets marking this 5K or 3.1 mile course. The start and finish lines are located at the southeast corner of the hospital campus.
