"Libraries Rock" is theme for Robey Memorial Library's 2018 Adult Reading Challenge going on throughout the year

The 2018 Adult Reading Challenge hosted by Robey Memorial Library in Waukon is underway and will continue throughout the entire year. Area patrons can participate at any time throughout the year.

Participants can receive a prize drawing entry for reading from one of each of 12 pre-selected categories, including: book in a series; tragedy - fiction or non-fiction; funny - fiction or non-fiction; graphic novel; recommended book - fiction or non-fiction; learn something new; cross-cultural author or theme; written under a pseudonym; LISTEN to an audiobook; genre or subject never read before; holiday theme; or music theme. Participants can also receive a bonus entry for reading a book with a song lyric in the title.

Prizes (such as those pictured above in the adjacent article about the library's 2017 Reading Challenge) will be awarded by random drawing after the challenge is complete December 31, 2018. Prizes include a Kindle/tablet, mp3 device, Waukon Bucks and a local business gift certificate bundle. Books must be read during the 2018 calendar year to be eligible for the drawing. Participants can submit an entry form to the library or online throughout the year.

Throughout the year, patrons will also be encouraged to explore a variety of ways to see how “Libraries Rock.” Anyone can join the library for any of its regularly scheduled programming listed below:

• The Brown Bag ‘n’ Books program is held monthly the first Wednesday from 12-1 p.m. Attendees can listen to excerpts of several selected books… they may hear something they just have to read. They are welcome to bring their own lunch as well.
• Thursday Night Book Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. and discusses a wide variety of books. The month of February’s selection: music theme.
• Take a break at Robey Memorial Library with Adult Coloring Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. Stop in anytime during the two-hour session and color. All supplies are provided.
• Learn something new at Robey Memorial Library during one of its monthly classes offered the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
• Participate in one of Robey Memorial Library's clubs: Hook & Needle Crochet & Knitting Club meets monthly the first Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Chess Club meets Mondays from 4-6 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.
• Watch for other special events during Robey Memorial Library's Summer Reading Program in July.
