Letter to the Editor: Passover represents Yahshua

To the Editor:

This year, Passover starts Sunday evening, March 31 and ends April 1, the same days as Easter. That rarely happens.

Passover is the first of three feast days that our Heavenly Father requires us to honor Him by commemorating them. They are holy days and no work is to be done on those Sabbath days of rest. The twenty-third chapter tells how to spend those days. Passover is not a Sabbath day, but the next day and the seventh day are holy Sabbaths and are called feast of unleavened bread. Bread or anything else with yeast in it is not to be eaten on those seven days because of what happened during Passover back in the Book of Exodus, chapters 1-13. Leaven represents sin.

Yahshua, the only begotten Son of Our Creator of the universe who died to save us from our sins, was crucified, died and placed in a tomb on a Wednesday. The law of the time was such that anyone hung on a tree or cross had to be taken down before sundown. Thursday was a high holy day, a day of rest. Friday of week one was a preparation day. Fragrant herbs and spices were purchased and prepared for Yahshua’s anointing. Saturday was a weekly Sabbath day of rest. No one visited the tomb.

Yahshua arose from the dead that afternoon. Count them, three days and three nights in the tomb. Sometime Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and was greeted by an angel. He asked Mary why she was looking for the living among the dead.

Where in the Bible does it say anything about a sunrise service? That is sun worship. Didn’t Yahshua say not to worship other gods? Yahshua’s only chosen people are of Israel, all the others are of the heathen pagans. That is where Easter comes from.

The only Bible where anything is said about Easter is the King James version, and in that whole book just once is the word “Easter,” in Acts, chapter 12, verse 4. No other version has it. That may change.

Passover is mentioned throughout the entire Bible, and we are told how to observe it. Because there are no instructions about how to celebrate Easter, man had to devise some. Emperor Constantine got it started. The big one is Mardi Gras. Christians go there for the entertainment and lust. I have been told by several that a lot of women at that big whing ding wear little or nothing for clothing and it has the blessing of the Catholic church. Sounds a little like Sodom and Gommorah to me with any and all boozing and licentiousness.

Easter is celebrated by almost every Christian church on the first Sunday following the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox. Easter has nothing to do with the resurrection of Yahshua. Passover can be read about in Genesis, chapter 12.

So, why do the preachers lead us down a party path that could put us into the lake of fire come judgment day? Would they lose their jobs if they didn’t preach Easter involvement in the resurrection? Are their thoughts more about money than truth? Or maybe they don’t know the history of Passover, perhaps the greatest of miracles ever performed by our Creator. I also haven’t seen any change in obedience to the Fourth Commandment. Why the disobedience of the leaders of the churches?

Yahshua said, “If you love me, keep my Commandments.”

With love in our Savior Yahshua,
