One of country music’s female mainstays with her music will be the headlining the grandstand musical acts at the 165th Allamakee County Fair scheduled for July 18-22 in Waukon. Terri Clark, known for her chart-topping hits such as “Better Things To Do” and “Girls Lie Too,” will grace the grandstand stage Friday, July 20 following an opening set from country music newcomer Nick Hickman, all beginning at 7 p.m.

TERRI CLARK
Hailing from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Terri Clark will be returning to Allamakee County this summer after making stops in both Lansing and New Albin this past winter as a featured performer aboard the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. Her performance at the Allamakee County Fair will be part of a tour with her own band, and she has also recently been making a touring circuit with fellow female country music artists Pam Tillis and Suzy Bogguss on their “Chicks With Hits” Tour.

Clark has recorded 13 top-ten singles, including six tunes that rose to number-one spots on charts in her native Canada and the United States. Some of those chart-topping hits include her story-telling tunes of “Better Things To Do,” “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me,” “Girls Lie Too,” “Northern Girl” and “I Just Wanna Be Mad.”

Rising from her start of playing for tips at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge - a legendary honky-tonk bar across the alley from Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, Clark emerged into a three-time winner of Canada’s JUNO Award and an eight-time Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Entertainer of the Year, also being named CCMA Female Vocalist of the Year five times. She still holds the honor of being the only Canadian female artist to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has sold over four million albums.

In addition to her country music touring, Clark also currently hosts her own radio show, Country Gold with Terri Clark, which airs on more than 100 radio stations across the U.S. and Canada. Just last year, she was nominated for a Country Music Association (CMA) Award for National Broadcast Personality of the Year.

NICK HICKMAN
A modern country act hailing from Knoxville, TN, Nick Hickman is now a Nashville-based singer-songwriter trying to work his way up the country music charts. His best-known releases since moving to Nashville have included such tunes as “Rain,” “Tipsy” and, most recently, “Live For Tonight,” a duet he joined forces with fellow country music chart climber Amber Hayes to record. In his relatively young career, he has opened for such major artists as Blake Shelton, Lee Brice, Justin Moore and Jason Aldean.

NEW FEATURES AND MORE GRANDSTAND
In addition to that musical entertainment, local competitors will also get the opportunity to perform in front of fair-goers again this year in some of the other four grandstand events planned for this year’s fair. Local truck and tractor enthusiasts will put the power of their machines on display in the Wednesday, July 18 Truck and Tractor Pull, with the Thursday, July 19 Motokazie and Sunday, July 22 Tough Truck Contest also providing locals a chance to thrill the crowd in competition on two and four wheels.

New this year to the grandstand will be Rogue Rodeo Saturday, July 21. Rogue Rodeo features a complete rodeo experience with bull riding, bronco busting, barrel racing and much more.

The 2018 Allamakee County Fair will also feature a new midway which will feature free rides each day of the fair. Additional information about that new midway and other fair features and improvements will be published when more specific details have been made available.
