Linda Proffitt

Linda Martha Proffitt, age 68, died peacefully May 13, 2018 in her home in Ferryville, WI. A ‘Celebration of Life’ for Linda was held Friday, May 18 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, WI, with Charley Fisher officiating.

Linda was born in Mountain View, MO to Henry and Elsie (Brotherton) Gimpel January 31, 1950. She went to high school at Mountain View High School and graduated in 1968. Linda married Tommy Proffitt June 1, 1968 in Mountain View, MO.

When Linda was young, she worked in a bakery with her aunt, where she learned how to bake and decorate cakes. She made beautiful cakes for her children during their childhood. Linda enjoyed snowmobiling and boating with her husband and kids, fishing with her dad and husband, camping with her friends and traveling by car.  She loved visiting her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking her signature peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for her friends and family.

Linda also loved to play Euchre and enjoyed listening to country music. She made beautiful, crocheted afghans in her spare time. Linda wasn’t much of an athlete but bowled with her husband in a fun league for many years.  Her greatest athletic accomplishment was a hole-in-one.

Linda is survived by her husband, Tom Proffitt; her daughter, Kimberly Proffitt, her son, Kenneth Proffitt; her grandchildren, Kesley and Alexander; many brothers and sisters; and her cats, Baby K and Fluffy. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many, including Mitch.
