Lennon Schara-Horns
Lennon Scott Schara-Horns, 16, of Postville passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 26 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant. Burial will be held at a later date.
Lennon was born April 12, 2002 in Decorah, the son of Dwight and Shauna (Swift) Horns. He was a sophomore at Postville Community School, Postville.
Lennon lived his whole life in what was his own personal paradise, within the valleys surrounding the Yellow River north of Postville. He spent his time fishing for trout, finding fossils, looking for whitetail deer sheds, kayaking and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed camping on the Mississippi River, exploring the wilderness with his dog, Molly, finding arrowheads, target shooting with his gun or bow, working and making money. Most of all, Lennon loved inviting others to share in his passion of spending time outdoors.
Lennon is survived by his parents, Dwight and Shauna Horns of Postville and Scott Schara of Decorah; one sister, Lavender Horns of Postville; his grandparents, Michael and Marla Miene of Postville, Irving and Barbara Horns of Decorah, Joe and Sheryl Hammel of Frankville and Betty Schara of Hutchinson, MN; his great-grandmother, Patricia Miene of Postville; his aunts and uncles, Eli Swift and Jessica Kulish, Katy Swift and Jessey Brainard, Kathleen and Al Kocher, Audrey Emerson and Darryl Stephan, Sidney and Theresa Horns, Larry and Tammy Horns, Susanna Sisk and PJ Folden, Sandra and Randy Evanson, Neal and Debbie Horns, Martin and Martha Horns, Jeffery and Dawn Horns, Dawn and Korrian Webb, Stephanie and Bob Giles, Sara Schara, Steven Schara and Meagan Chalmers; his cousins, Kalina and Kody Swift, Hunter, Hailey, Logan, Daisy and Violet Shipp, Jesse and Jasmine Brainard, Daniel and Marcel Jacobsen, Jeremy, Amy, Alex and Jocelyn Jacobsen, Tiffany Horns, Boyd, Maureen, Madison, Austin and Brooklyn Johanningmeyer, Blaine, Lisa, Tristan and Carley Johanningmeyer, Justine, Marc, Taryn and Piper Calderwood, Mike and Brittany Horns, Matthew Horns, Josh and Austin Evanson, Keith and Tracy Evanson, Ethan Evanson, Amanda, Jonathon and Bryan Horns, Kristine and Sam Keppler, Sarah and Brianna Horns, River and Chloe Horns, Corey and Cody Giles, Courtney Fowler and Avery Schara; and a special friend, Samantha Gerard.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dominic and Savanna Horns; his cousin, PFC Christopher Horns; his uncle and aunt, Myron and Melon Horns; his grandfather, Robert Schara; his great-grandparents, Merle and Juanita Monroe, Herbert and Hedwig Horns, Glen and Ethel Palmer and Paul Miene.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville assisted the family with arrangements.
