Maria Magner completes MBA at University of Missouri, serves as Masters Student Marshal

May 13, Waukon native Maria Rose Magner received a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree with a focus in Marketing Management from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. In addition to completing her degree, Magner was selected for her academic and leadership contributions from more than 600 students to be the Masters Student Marshal at Graduate Studies Commencement.

During the graduation ceremony, University of Missouri Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Associate Vice Provost for Advanced Studies Dr. Jeni Hart stated, “While excelling in the classroom, Maria was also a leader for the Nicaragua Service and Consulting Project, serving on various committees, and representing the Crosby MBA program in a variety of forms.”

Magner was nominated for the honor by Robyn Ridgway, College of Business Director of Advising, who pointed out her interactions with fellow students were “always respectful, engaging and motivational. She is never quick to judge and is always thoughtful in her decision-making. She facilitated intense discussion and elicits a unique sense of calm that fosters cooperation and enthusiasm.”

Magner is a 2003 graduate of Waukon High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in International Studies from the University of Iowa in 2007. She and her husband, Dr. Rory Deol, reside in St. Louis, MO, where she is employed as a Science Communications Manager by The Climate Corporation, a digital agriculture company behind FieldViewTM, an application that analyzes weather, soil and images to help farmers improve yield. Maria Magner is the daughter of Jim Magner and Rose Magner of Waukon.
