James Lippe

James Emil Lippe of Youngsville, NC, formerly of Waukon and Ames, passed away in Fargo, ND August 30, 2018 while on vacation. Memorial Service will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN through stjude.org.

Jim was born in Waukon April 6, 1938 to Emil and Edna Lippe. He attended Waukon schools, graduating in 1956, and attended University of Northern Iowa, where he graduated with a teaching degree. He then attended Murray State University, graduating with a double masters degree in Chemistry and Administration in 1969.

Jim married Katherine Jane Brenner in 1958 and had two children, Nancy and John. The family settled in Ames, where Jim taught school and coached for almost 40 years. After retiring from Ames Community Schools in 1999, Jim and Jane spent many years traveling the world visiting friends and family. In 2008, Jim and Jane moved to Youngsville, NC to be close to their children and grandchildren.

Even though Jim’s passing was sudden and unexpected, he lived a full life and enjoyed his students, his family and his many friends. We will miss him very much as he was larger than life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Nancy (Steve) Solum and John; his grandchildren, Kayla, Haley, Jane and Dylan; his brother, Robert (Trish); his cousin, Howard; and many other cousins.
