Les Livingood

Les Livingood, 83, of Harpers Ferry died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 5 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Waukon with Rev. Duane Smith officiating. Friends may greet the family at the fellowship lunch following the service. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.

Leslie Lynn Livingood was born March 14, 1935 at his parents’ home in Waukon, the son of Lynn and Daisy (Thornton) Livingood. He attended country school and married JoAnn Swenson. Throughout his life, Les worked a variety of jobs. He started as a milk hauler, then worked for a construction company, and also worked for Allamakee County as a road grader. For many years, he and JoAnn owned and operated Livingood’s Supper Club in Frankville, which is best remembered for its beer battered fish. Les also did a lot of real estate developing.

As he liked being outdoors, Les spent time at the Mississippi River and liked fishing, hunting, trapping and mushroom hunting. Les enjoyed watching football and NASCAR and drove his own stock car called the “Black Cat 13”. He also liked driving his ATV with JoAnn to the cross on the bluff.

Les is survived by his wife, JoAnn Livingood; his children: Dale Livingood, Gwen and Joe Balk, Willo Passantino, and Todd Livingood and Randy Getman; his grandchildren: Justin (Sandra) Balk, Cody (Jen) Balk, Brandon (Rebecca) Livingood and Blake (Jesse) Livingood; his great-grandchildren: Lily, Evelyn, Clara and Owen Balk, Tristin, Cannon and Harper Livingood, and Sullivan, London and Ireland Livingood; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Livingood; his sister, Lynette Heilig; and his in-laws, Lane (Sharon) Swenson and Erma Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ed Livingood; a sister, Eileen Hammon; his father- and mother-in-law, Hall and Florence Swenson; and his in-laws: Gordon (LaVon) Kaeser, Bud (Mary) Swenson and Marlin Swenson. Online condolences can be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
