NICC Waukon Center celebrating 10th anniversary with Open House this Friday

The Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Waukon Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To celebrate, the center will hold an open house Friday, October 5 from 2:30-4:30 p.m., following the Waukon High School Homecoming parade.

At the open house, community members may tour the Waukon Center, meet with center staff, see the improved health lab and learn more about credit courses and programs available through NICC. Root beer floats will be served at the event for attendees. The Waukon Center is located at 1220 Third Avenue NW, Waukon.

The Waukon Center is a partnership between NICC, Allamakee Community School District and the City of Waukon that provides college-level coursework for both high school and adult learners. The Waukon Center offers year-round, day, evening, credit and professional development classes and also serves as a pivotal point between NICC offerings and services, credit and non-credit students, the local workforce and community initiatives and needs.

Since 2008, 833 high school students have enrolled in 13,341 college credits and 468 adult (non-high school) students have taken credit coursework at the Waukon Center. Allamakee County high school students and families have saved an estimated $7,148,908 in tuition through concurrent enrollment at the Waukon Center.
