Football Hawks fall to River Hawks of Easton Valley in 34-0 Homecoming defeat

Homecoming happiness denied in muddy mess ... The photo above gives some indication of the field conditions that proved to be somewhat limiting to the Kee football team in its 34-0 Homecoming loss to Easton Valley Friday, October 5. The Hawks were set up on three occasions within five yards of the goal line but were turned away each time, also surrendering four turnovers in the loss. A rain-soaked field did not allow for much traction Friday, October 5 when the Kee football team hosted Easton Valley in this season’s Homecoming contest, at least not enough traction for the Hawks to get on to the scoreboard in falling by a 34-0 final result to the visiting River Hawks. Having moved the game’s start time up an hour to avoid what was forecasted to be the worst of Friday night’s weather, the previous and existing weather conditions and some hard-grinding football action made for some challenging conditions that left the Hawks’ home field and both teams a muddy mess.

Those conditions resulted in four Kee turnovers, two of which were returned right away for Easton Valley touchdowns. The Hawks also found enough traction to get themselves to the scoreboard door step, but suffered another of those turnovers and two fourth down denials within just a step or two of the goal line.

Falling to a 1-6 season record, now 1-3 in District 3 play, the football Hawks will next travel to Central Elkader to square off against another single-win team this Friday, October 12. The Warriors come off back-to-back losses of 57-0 both at Springville and then at home this past Friday, October 5 to yet-undefeated Central City in District 3 play. Central Elkader’s lone victory of the season was a 58-46 win over West Central, the only team the football Hawks have also beaten this season, 36-6.
