Letter to the Editor: Halloween

To the Editor:

In just a few days it will be Halloween, October 31 will again be celebrated starting at sundown and carrying over to and including November 1, known as All Saints Day which replaced Samhain in the year 835 by Pope Gregory the Fourth. It took a while with Christianity leaving Samhain from about the fifth to the fifteenth centuries. The Roman Catholic Church liked to incorporate versions of the older religious traditions in an effort to convert those into All Souls Day, which is today’s Halloween.

The ancient Celts, in an effort to appease Satan and his angels turned into evil spirits being kicked out of heaven, would set out sweets. The church took hold of it, telling the celebrants to go house to house on All Hallows eve asking for food in exchange for prayers for the dead. That is necromancy. We are not to pray for the dead. They are either in paradise or purgatory on Gehenna, better known as Hell, with no escape from either place. Today we send our children out to collect candy under threat of some evil deed, trick or treat, and it is called fun.

The Celts used to wear ugly, fierce masks hoping the evil spirits would think those wearing the masks were also evil spirits like them and not harass them. Carved candle lit turnips, the idea for some was that they represented a soul trapped in Purgatory. Carved pumpkins have replaced turnips, at least for the most part.

Nowadays it will cost three or four dollars for a pumpkin. How did a soul get into that pumpkin anyway?

Today, Halloween is a multibillion dollar business providing costumes, candy and, yes, pumpkins, just in an effort to go out and harass the natives, filling our children with high fructose sugar, preparing them for a trip to the dentist. That will destroy most budgets with longtime occasional visits.

Every Sunday, most or at least some people go looking for peace, love, joy, contentment and whatever else you are hoping for, hoping for, forgiveness of your sins, of joining up with Satan and his cohorts just a few nights previous. So now, what have you taught your children? Next, you are preparing for Xmas, yes Christmas, lying to your children about the date your Savior was born, and worshiping false gods on a day of sun worship.

Our God says any kind of worshiping false gods is an abomination, looking like vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies or any kind of Halloween celebrations, practicing divination, sorcery, using charms, consulting the dead or spirits. Read Leviticus 19: Verse 31, Deuteronomy 18: Verses 10 and 11, Galatians Chapter 5: Verses 19 and 21, Deuteronomy Chapter 12: Verses 29-32, First Corinthians Chapter 10: Verse 21 and countless others.

The newspaper USA Today quoted a professed witch, “Christians don’t realize it, but they’re celebrating our holiday with us... we like it.”

There is so much more to write about Halloween. I have only scratched the surface lightly. It is totally evil. Please don’t aggravate your creator Yahweh through His only begotten Son Yahshua, our Savior, and take a chance on missing your chance to spend eternity with them in heaven. Repent, turn from your evil ways.

Read Exodus Chapter 20 and Deuteronomy Chapter 5. The Bible speaks in countless places of curses He will place on us for disobedience, blessings for obedience.

With love in our Savior Yashua (Jesus)
