Patricia Monroe

Patricia Leonette Monroe, age 76, of Clermont, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Clermont at 11 a.m. with Father Dan Knipper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Gethsemane Cemetery located in Lansing.

Patricia “Pat” was born in Waukon March 18, 1942 to Leo and Winifred (Gander) Monroe. She attended school in Lansing and graduated from Eastern Allamakee Community High School. After graduation she attended cosmetology school in Waterloo.

After Waterloo, she moved to Cedar Rapids and worked as a cook at multiple restaurants, care facilities and for private families. Pat lived in Cedar Rapids until returning to northeast Iowa to retire at Clermont. Once in Clermont, she didn’t stay retired long. She continued her cooking career at restaurants in the area and at Southcrest Manor Assisted Living located in Waukon.

Pat enjoyed her home by the lake in Clermont and all her new friends she made there, both local residents and her camper friends at the campground near her home. She also enjoyed family gatherings, camping, cooking and golf cart tours.

Survivors include her son, Kevin (Linda) Monroe of Waukon; a sister, Lynda (Richard) Valley of Decorah; a brother, Manley “Mike” (Suzanne) Monroe of Postville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials made to the Rosary Society at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Clermont.
