Holiday voice recital being held this Sunday to help fund music scholarship in memory of local musician/accompanist Faith Ericson

Several Waukon High School alumni among the many talented performers

A holiday voice recital featuring area musicians, some of whom have graced this area in the past with their talents and others who continue to do so, will be held this Sunday afternoon, December 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Zalmona Presbyterian Church, located at 371 State Highway 9, Waukon.

The performance is being held in an effort to raise money to fund a music scholarship in memory of Faith Ericson, a local pianist/musician who passed away this past fall. Ericson was well known for her musical accompaniment and other performances throughout the area, and she provided accompaniment for more than half of those who are performing at this Sunday’s event.

Those participating include the following:

• Dr. Kristen Wunderlich is a Waukon High School Class of 1993 and a Luther College Class of 1997 graduate. She is a teacher of voice, diction, art song literature and vocal pedagogy at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC.
• Dr. Jennaya Robison is a Luther College Class of 1996 graduate. She is the assistant professor of music at Luther College, conductor of Aurora and Collegiate Chorale at Luther, and an instructor of pedagogy and voice at Luther College.
• Nicole Winke-Gentes is a graduate of Waukon High School’s Class of 1992 and Luther College’s Class of 1998. She is currently an attorney at law and operates Winke Law Office in Lansing.
• Jana Vorvick is a Luther College Class of 1997 graduate. She is currently Coordinator of Music Recruitment at Luther College.
• Dr. Cory Wikan is a graduating member of the Class of 1995 at Waukon High School and of Luther College’s Class of 1999. He is the Acting Dean of the Hurley School of Music and an assistant professor of music at Centenary College of Louisiana, where he also conducts the Centenary College Camerata and teaches choral conducting, music education, music history and music repertoire courses.
• Daryl Hansmeier is a Waukon High School Class of 1991 graduate and a Luther College Class of 1995 graduate. He is broker/owner of Allamakee Realty LLC in Waukon.
• Dr. Brett Robison is a graduate of Luther College’s Class of 1996. He is the assistant director of music, and director of Concert Choir, 9th Street Singers and Women’s Chorale at Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI.
• Aaron Gentes is a Luther College Class of 1998 graduate. He is currently an actor and freelance musician, and he lives in Lansing.
• Dr. Andrew Last graduated from Luther College in its Class of 1997. He is the director of choral activities and the Nordic Choir at Luther College.
• Nicholas Shaneyfelt will be the accompanist for all the vocal performances. He is a vocal coach and provides accompaniment for collaborative arts, vocal and instrumental performances at Luther College.

A free will offering will be taken at the performance. Tickets will be available at the door. Coffee and treats will be served in the church hall following the performances.
