Weekend Walk-In Medical Services available over the holidays

Each and every day, 24 hours a day, the Veterans Memorial Hospital Emergency Room (ER) is staffed with an emergency provider to see the ER patients with little waiting.

On the weekends and holidays when the local clinics are closed, the public is welcome to visit the Weekend Walk-In Services for non-emergencies. Non-emergencies are considered concerns that could be seen by a physician in a clinic such as a sore throat, ear ache, flu-like symptoms, coughs and congestion, etc.

Due to new regulatory standards, the hospital can no longer offer a Weekend Clinic.  Instead it offers this Weekend Walk-In Service, which is considered an Outpatient Hospital Visit. Due to this change, insurance may pay differently. Patients may not have a co-pay anymore - the visit may be applied to their deductible. Everyone’s policies are different so it may be best to call the insurance company and ask how they would pay for this Weekend Walk-In Service. This change took place July 1, 2018.

Weekend Walk-Ins are held every Saturday and Sunday at Veterans Memorial Hospital, all year round, from 1-5 p.m. each day for non-emergencies, as well as on holidays. Anyone needing to utilize these weekend services is asked to enter the hospital through the main entrance and register with the receptionist.

This year, the Weekend Walk-In Services will be offered 1-5 p.m. the following dates over the holidays:

- Monday, December 24
- Tuesday, December 25
- Saturday, December 29
- Sunday, December 30
- Tuesday, January 1
