Waukon wrestling team falls at Caledonia, wins one of five duals to place third in consolation pool at Decorah Dual Tournament

The Waukon wrestling team completed a very busy end to its past week of competition, wrestling what amounted to six dual meets within less than a 24-hour period after an idle early portion of the week. The mat Indians first fell at Caledonia, MN Friday, January 11 by a 78-6 final result before wrestling to a third-place consolation finish at the Decorah Duals Tournament, winning just one of five duals at the event Saturday, January 12. The grappling Tribe first fell to all three teams in its Red Pool at the tournament, 56-24 to Waterloo West, 58-18 to South Winneshiek and 64-15 to St. Charles, MN, before splitting its two Consolation Pool duals, falling to Wapsie Valley, 36-30, before defeating Postville, 54-24, to end up third in that final pool.

The wrestling Tribe was next scheduled to take on both Waverly-Shell Rock and Charles City at Waverly Thursday, January 17 before competing in the Riceville Tournament Saturday, January 19. The Indians will then wrestle at MFL/MarMac Thursday, January 24 against the host Bulldogs and North Linn before competing in the Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament at Charles City Saturday, January 26.
