Waukon wrestling team to begin postseason action this Saturday

The Waukon wrestling team will begin its postseason tournament trail Saturday, February 2 at the Class 2A Sectional 10 Tournament hosted by Decorah High School, beginning at 12 noon. The Indians will be matched up against teams from Crestwood, Decorah, New Hampton, North Fayette Valley and Oelwein. The first-place and second-place finishers in the final team standings at the Sectional Tournament will advance on to one of eight Regional Dual Tournaments at a site to be determined.

The top two individual Sectional Tournament placewinners at each weight will also advance on to the Class 2A District 5 Tournament hosted by Independence High School Saturday, February 9 at 12 noon, where they will be matched up with the opposite first- or second-place winner from the Sectional 9 Tournament at Aplington-Parkersburg. Teams from that tournament will include Aplington-Parkersburg, BCLUW, Columbus, Dike-New Hartford, Independence and Union-LaPorte City.

First- and second-place finishers from that District Tournament will advance to the Class 2A State Tournament to be held Thursday-Saturday, February 15-17 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
