Linda Lyon

Linda Lee Lyon, 57, of Waukon passed away February 28, 2019 in her home following a two-year battle with stage 4 lung cancer. A celebration of life will be held in the spring with family and friends. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Linda was born January 5, 1962 in Inglewood, CA, the daughter of Lester and Lockie (Hildebrand) Sass, and she graduated from Waukon High School in 1980. December 27, 1980, she married Allen D. Lyon at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon.

While Allen was serving in the Army, Linda managed the base floral shop in Schweinfurt, Germany for three years. They then moved to Ft. Lewis, WA for five years and later to Mackenbach, Germany for another three years before settling back in Waukon. Linda worked at the Dari-O in Waukon, Northern Engraving in Lansing and CVG Monona Wire.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, re-enacting living history, and was really looking forward to spending time with her granddaughter.

Linda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Allen, of Waukon; her three children: Amanda (Michael) Horne of Cedar Rapids, Matthew Lyon of Prescott, AZ and Noah (Emily Opfer) Lyon of Coralville; her granddaughter, Isla Horne; her parents, Lester and Lockie Sass of Waukon; her brother,  Lester (Anne) Sass, Jr. of West Union; and her niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Mary Hildebrand and Charles and Eugenia Sass.
