Steven Wild

Steven Richard Wild, 34, of rural Lansing passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12 at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, rural New Albin.

Steven Richard Wild was born August 19, 1984 in Waukon, the son of Richard and Diane (Goedken) Wild. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Church and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church, both in Waukon.

Up until it closed, Steve was a lifelong member at St. Mary’s Lycurgus and was an altar server for many years as a kid. He worked on the family farm with his dad and brother and enjoyed raising beef cattle. As someone who liked helping others, Steve also did farm work for his neighbors along with repair and carpentry jobs. He loved tractors, especially International Harvesters, and won many trophies at county fairs in the tractor pulls. Steve also liked four-wheeling, deer hunting and wood cutting. He loved spending time with his family, including playing toy farm with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his dad, Rick Wild of Lansing; his sister, Ann (Jason) Miller of Cresco; his brother, Todd (Brianne) Wild of Lansing; and his nieces and nephews, Carson and Carly Miller and Kasen and Faith Wild. Steve was preceded in death by his mom, Diane; and his grandparents, Harris and Evelyn Wild and Elmer and Katherine Goedkin.

Honorary casketbearers were his nieces and nephews. Casketbearers were Doug, Nick, Randy and Robert Wild, Heath Dee, Paul Ebner, Adam Leiran and Mark Reiser. Online condolences may be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
