Late Sunday afternoon, March 17, the Waukon Police Department responded to 46 Jean Road in the Park View Trailer Court in south Waukon for a report of the male complainant at that residence having a pistol pointed at him. As a result of the ensuing investigation, 25-year-old Dustin James Ward of Waukon was arrested and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon (aggravated misdemeanor) and going armed with intent (class D felony).

Court documents indicate that Ward and another male party went to 46 Jean Road to obtain a grill from the complainant that had reportedly been previously purchased by Ward’s girlfriend when she was dating the male complainant residing at 46 Jean Road. An argument ensued and court documents indicate that Ward allegedly displayed a pistol and a knife and that the complainant at one time also allegedly displayed a knife. The parties separated without incident but an ensuing investigation led to Ward’s arrest on the above-named charges, and he was taken into custody without further incident.

The Waukon Police Department was assisted by the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office. A criminal charge is merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
