Matthew John Regan was born July 26, 1958 in Waukon, the son of William and Angella (Schulte) Regan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon. Matt attended Lycurgus country school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1976. In his early life, he farmed with his father and brothers at Regancrest in rural Waukon, where he remained a partner. After graduation, he worked construction which later led him to build his own house on his own farm.

March 31, 1995, he married Jane Brown in Lansing; they had two daughters and later divorced. In 2001, Matt opened and operated his own business, Regan’s Auto Glass, and continued to do this until his death. Matt still found time to help his brothers and nephews with their farming operations.

Matt was a member of St. Mary’s Lycurgus Church before it closed. He was passionate about his business and farming as well as being social within the surrounding communities. He enjoyed going to local stock car races, watching NASCAR and cruising in his Mustangs.

Matt also liked playing softball, golfing, boating on the Mississippi River, eating peanut M&Ms and visiting. Matt was an avid follower of the Waukon Indians and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He treasured spending time with his daughters and loved following their activities.

Survivors include his two daughters, Mattison and Taylor Regan, both of Waukon; three sisters: Mary (Darrell) Henning of Postville, and Rosella (Greg) Piggott and Joan (Scott) Anderson, both of Waukon; five brothers: Dennis (Betty) and Frank (Mary), both of Waukon, Bill (Karen) and Charles (Connie), both of Lansing, and Ron (Mary) of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Joyce Regan of Waukon; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael; and a nephew, Chase Regan.
