The Robey Memorial Library Board of Trustees is proud to celebrate National Library Week April 7-13 with Waukon and the greater Allamakee community. In the five years since Robey Memorial Library’s remodel, the library has seen the expansion of not just the facilities, but of the community’s support and participation in all that the library has to offer. It has been, and continues to be, a place to learn, discover, connect and succeed.

Visitors to Waukon frequently comment on how lucky the community is to have a library the size and caliber of Robey Memorial Library. It comes as no surprise, however, to those who frequent the library and have seen the steady growth of opportunities and experiences available there. From year-round programming that reaches everyone from newborns to seniors, to a robust collection that is both physical and digital, Robey Memorial Library is a truly exceptional facility and resource.

In 2017 there were over 2,700 active library card users, and a total circulation of 32,785 physical materials at Robey Memorial Library. This includes everything from the library’s 25,000 books to the 1,700 movies, 1,600 audio books, and 121 magazines and newspapers, not to mention the digital databases and eBook checkouts. This wealth of resources would be out of reach for most individuals and families, but Robey Memorial Library provides the local community with this treasure-trove of opportunity and information freely and equally.

Tuesday, April 9, National Library Worker’s Day, library patrons and area residents are invited to join the Library Board of Trustees in honoring the Robey Memorial Library staff: Director Cate St. Clair; Librarians Chris Kerndt, Ellen Krousie and Ellen Thiele; and custodians Patrick Ryan and Bryan Koch, as well as their support staff at TASC: Erica, Laina, Ann, Sarah and Kris.

“Their commitment to Robey has allowed it to become the welcoming community space it is today,” shared the Robey Memorial Library Board of Trustees. “If you’ve never visited, please take this as our invitation to welcome you to the vital and vibrant place we call Robey Memorial Library.”
