Waukon Walking School Bus to start from the courthouse in May ...

The Waukon Walking School Bus (WSB), now in its sixth year, is a safe, fun and active way for students to get to school during the fall and spring months. The WSB is scheduled to walk each Thursday morning in May, including May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Due to the street improvement project currently underway in Waukon, this spring’s meeting location and route has had to be adjusted slightly from its original location in years past. Interested families should drop students off by 7:35 a.m. at the Allamakee County Courthouse lower parking lot located on First Avenue NW in Waukon. Routes lead to East Elementary and West Elementary Schools. Students will be walking 10-20 minutes and arrive to school by 8:10 a.m. or earlier. Spring mornings can be pretty chilly so students should come dressed for the weather. The WSB will not walk if it is heavily raining/storming/snowing at 7:30 a.m. Contact Ashley Christensen, WSB Coordinator to learn more or get involved at achristensen@uerpc.org or 563-382-6171.
