In its only competition of this past week, the Waukon boys golf team hosted Oelwein Friday, May 3. The meet had been postponed from Tuesday, April 30 due to rainy weather, and the Indians made the most of that delay, winning the meet by a 172-203 result. The Tribe laid claim to the meet medals, with junior Tanner Mitchell besting all players with a round of 41 and fellow junior Logan Houg sharing runner-up medalist honors with Oelwein’s top golfer, each turning in a round of 42 strokes.
The Waukon boys were next scheduled to play at Charles City Monday, May 6 before hosting both Sumner-Fredericksburg and Caledonia, MN Tuesday, May 7 to wrap up their regular season, Caledonia being added to that May 7 date after not making their original date at Waukon April 16. The Indians will open postseason play Friday, May 10 at Charles City, details of which can be found elsewhere on the same Sports pages in the May 8, 2019 print and e-edition The Standard.
