Kee boys track team has 2019 season ended at Class 1A State Qualifying Meet

So close in a pair of events ... Kee boys track senior Jacob Berns clears the high jump bar at the Hawks’ Class 1A State Qualifying Meet at Edgewood-Colesburg Friday, May 10. Berns was on the brink of earning a return trip to the Class 1A State Track Meet in the high jump, clearing the same 5’10” height as the meet’s third-place finisher - who ended up being the last State Meet qualifier in this year’s Class 1A field - but ending up fourth on the criteria of more jumps required to clear that height. Berns was also third in the 400 meter dash, missing the final State Meet qualifying spot in that event by less than a second to have his Kee High School track and field career brought to a close. The Kee boys track team had its 2019 season brought to a close at its Class 1A State Qualifying Meet hosted by Edgewood-Colesburg Friday, May 10. The meet was delayed a day due to colder weather Thursday, May 9 but that nearly 30-degree temperature improvement couldn’t quite get the Hawks over the hump to qualifying any events for this season’s State Track Meet, the Hawks managing event finishes as high as third place to help them to an 11th-place team finish in the final 14-team meet standings with 30 points.
