Alzheimer’s and Dementia Series continues at VMH this summer

Veterans Memorial Hospital, together with the Alzheimer’s Association®, will be offering another day of presentations concerning Alzheimer’s and Dementia for both the general public and for caregivers of anyone with these conditions.

The second of this three-part series will be held Wednesday, July 3 in the ICN Conference Room of Veterans Memorial Hospital.  The first session that day will be held at Noon for the general public. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to bring their own sack lunch in with them to enjoy during the session which is entitled, “Know the 10 Signs.” This program will teach the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease, plus hear from people who have the disease and find out how to recognize the signs in oneself and others.

That same day, at 1:30 p.m., a similar presentation geared more for actual caregivers and family members of an Alzheimer’s or dementia patient will be offered entitled “Effective Communication Strategies,” which will explain the communication  changes that take place throughout the course of Alzheimer’s disease and how to connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

The final two presentations in this three-part series will be offered August 7.  The public is welcome to attend any or all of them.
