Ardis Klepper

Ardis E. Klepper, 82, of Postville died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2 at Frankville Presbyterian Church, with Karla Johnson officiating. Burial was at Frankville Cemetery in Frankville.

Ardis Elaine Klepper was born March 20, 1937 in French Creek Township, rural Waukon, the daughter of Floyd W. and Mabel E. (Russell) Ashbacher. She attended Sixteen Country School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1955; when she was in school she worked at the S&D Restaurant in Waukon.

March 16, 1956, she married Curtiss Klepper at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon. They moved to Waterloo for a short time where she was a homemaker, before moving to Frankville in 1963, where she raised her family. Ardis worked at Wapsie Produce, Iowa Turkey, Quandahl’s Food Ranch and Good Samaritan Center in Postville, which was her favorite job.

She attended Frankville Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. Ardis was active with Frankville Fireflies, Frankville Betterment, Frankville Days, Frankville Street Lights and Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed crafts, writing poetry, “baking cakes”, fishing, riding her golf cart through Frankville, morning coffee with the Frankville clan, her cats, family gatherings, and special events at “Red Neck Korner.”

Survivors include her five children: Corinne (Dennis) Cook of Frankville, Kenneth (Vicki) Klepper of Castalia, Kevin (Becky) Klepper of Sierra Vista, AZ, Karla (Eric) Johnson of Postville and Audrey (Gordy) Winter of West Union; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; a great-great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, George (Belva) Ashbacher of Harpers Ferry and Floyd (Karen) Ashbacher of Decorah; two sisters, Delores (Roger) Klocke of Waterloo and Frances Ashbacher of Kingman, AZ; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Berg of Decorah and Karen Schnuelle of Castalia. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtiss, who died in 2014; a sister, Phyllis (James) Wilder; her father- and mother-in-law, Edwin and Ida Klepper; three brothers-in-law, Leo Berg, Donald Schnuelle and Harlan (Marilyn) Klepper; and her best friend, Joyce Snitker.

Honorary casketbearers were Ronald and Linda Upton. Casketbearers were Kelly and Danny Cook, Toni Pearson, Kendra Reburn, Kyle, Celsey and Mitchel Klepper, Abby Caston, Kassy Johnson and Jody Winter.
