Carol Lyon

Carol A. Lyon, 79, of Waukon died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Carol Ann Lyon was born January 6, 1940 in Waukon, the daughter of Carl and Bernice (Bellows) Schweinfurth. She attended Hanson Country School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1958. Carol worked at a factory in Spring Grove, MN, and then worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids for four years before returning to Waukon.

April 23, 1966, she married Donald Lyon at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Donald had passed away. Carol worked at Impro Products in Waukon from 1968 -2015 before retiring from a job that she enjoyed very much.

Carol enjoyed helping her husband, Don, with wood working projects and working with stain glass projects in their shop. She loved cats and enjoyed watching their antics.

Survivors include her son, Allen (special friend Tina Stahl) of Waukon; three grandchildren: Amanda (Michael) Horne of Cedar Rapids, Matthew (special friend Stacy Johns Caligiuri) of Prescott, AZ and Noah (Emily) Lyon of Coralville; a great-granddaughter, Isla Horne; a brother, Walter (Marilyn)

Schweinfurth of St. Augustine, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, who died in 2016; a daughter-in-law, Linda Lyon; and a brother, Kenneth Schweinfurth.
