Lansing Park and Recreation working toward making a “Big Splash” ...

The Lansing Park and Recreation Board has been working toward the addition of a splash pad to the playground area on South Front Street in Lansing and hopes to have the equipment installed within the next three weeks, depending upon weather conditions. The splash pad, designed similar to the one pictured above, will be located adjacent to the children’s play area between the asphalt path and the playground. A fund-raising effort has been ongoing since last December, and due to the generosity of all those who have already contributed, the project is nearing its goal. A matching grant was received by the board not to exceed $5,000 for all donations received after June 27.

All donors will be recognized on a BIG SPLASH sign near the splash pad, according to the following donation levels: Tsunami - $10,000 and above; Waterfall - $5,000-$9,999; Cloud Burst - $2,000-$4,999; Ripples - $1,000-$1,999; Showers - $500-$999; Raindrops - $250-$499; Sprinkles - $100-249; Dew Drops - $1-$99. There will also be space for six memorial benches for a donation of $750 each, with the benches being awarded on a first-come basis. Tax deductible donation checks should be addressed to City of Lansing with the words “Splash Pad” in the memo box and may be mailed to Lansing City Hall, P.O. Box 470, Lansing, IA 52151.
