Waukon residents and businesses reminded to complete and return survey regarding improved broadband services by this Friday

Survey link also available online or can be picked up locally if not received in the mail

Some time ago, the City of Waukon formed a Broadband Committee to investigate opportunities for providing improved broadband services within the city. The committee is comprised of representatives from the Waukon City Council, local businesses and homeowners.

In the course of the committee’s work, they were approached by representatives of Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative about the possibility of providing such services. The Cooperative has been involved in providing broadband service within the rural areas around Waukon for the past several years and has built out a fiber and wireless infrastructure to support those areas.

According to the committee, the first step in determining feasibility of this project is to conduct a survey of all the residents and businesses within the city limits. Within the past week or so, residential and business mailboxes and post office boxes within the Waukon city limits should have received a survey in the mail from Allamakee Clayton Electric Cooperative (as the return address label on the envelope). The committee reminds local residents and business/property owners that those surveys need to be completed and returned by this Friday, July 19.

There is an option to take the survey online, and that link is listed at the top of the mailed survey and can be accessed at https://surveymonkey.com/r/WaukonInternet. Any Waukon city resident or business owner who did not receive a survey in the mail may complete the survey online at that link or may pick up a paper copy of the survey at the Waukon Economic Development Office, located at 101 West Main Street, or at The Standard newspaper office, located at 15 First Street NW in Waukon.

As an added incentive for participation in this survey, the committee will draw three names from the survey responses received. Those three drawn responses will each be awarded prizes of Waukon Bucks.
