Marjorie Steiber

Marjorie Jean Steiber, 91, of Lansing passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Thornton Manor, Lansing. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at United Methodist Church, Lansing with a visitation two hours before services from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Sedar Wembonyama will be the officiant. Memorials in honor of Jean may be directed to the family as they will be used for local organizations. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Marjorie Jean was born March 11, 1928 to Robert and Freda (Graves) Maust in Elkton, SD. She graduated from Lansing High School and attended one year of Normal Training for teaching. Jean taught country school for one year.

Jean was united in marriage with Frederick Steiber June 7, 1947 in Lansing. She was a giving, caring mother who actively worked beside her husband on the family farm. She was an outstanding cook, an avid gardener and so loved her flowers. Jean enjoyed the outdoors and nature activities with family and friends like fishing, birdwatching, picking wildflowers and walking in the woods.

Jean is survived by her four children, Alan (Terisa) Steiber of Lansing, Byron (Kathleen) Steiber of Iowa Falls, Cheryl (Gary) Blythe of Dallas City, IL and Daryl (Pam) Steiber of Lansing; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Helen Maust of New Albin; and one brother-in-law, David Kerkow of Columbia Heights, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick; her parents, Robert and Freda Maust; her son, Eric Steiber; her brother, Robert “Bud” Maust Jr.; and her sister, Donna Kerkow.
