James Yuhouse

James “Jim” B. Yuhouse, 65, of Harpers Ferry, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at home in Harpers Ferry following a courageous battle with cancer. The family will be greeting friends and family to celebrate Jim’s life after 4 p.m. Saturday, September 28 at the Ethel Robinson Meehan Community Center in Harpers Ferry.

Please bring your own beverages as this will be a time of smiles, laughter and memories; Jim would not appreciate us fretting over him. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.

James Blake Yuhouse was born February 9, 1954 in Clear Lake, the son of Charles and Norma (Treloar) Yuhouse. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1973. Jim worked for IMT in Garner as a laser operator. He has spent most of his summers in Harpers Ferry since 1982.

May 29, 2004, he married Sally Thompson Wright in Harpers Ferry. After they were married, he became a permanent resident of Harpers Ferry. For a short time, Jim worked at Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI in maintenance before he retired in 2016.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping turtle, spending time on the Mississippi River, gardening, canning, processing deer meat, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Max.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Yuhouse of Harpers Ferry; and a sister, Sandy (Bob) Wolfe of Clear Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents.
