Helen Maust

Helen May (Gillespie) Maust, age 92, of New Albin died October 25, 2019. Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, November 9 at the New Albin Community Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with officiant Dick Wohlgemuth. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Helen was born November 18, 1927 in Northboro to Charles and Eva (Van Fosson) Gillespie, and she graduated from Northboro High School. She married Robert “Bud” Maust January 14, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and God blessed them with 65 years of marriage.

Helen worked as a secretary at several places in Omaha, NE, and she managed apartments and worked at the button factory in Lansing. She also enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom with her family. She was active in women’s fellowship and served as secretary for the V.F.W. Auxiliary for several years, being an Auxiliary member since 1963.

Helen is survived by her four children: Danny (Kris) Maust of Stoddard, WI, Scott (Mary Ann) Maust of Monmouth, IL, Cindy (Dennis) Smith of Monona and Kent Maust (Kris) of New Albin; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Charles and Eva Gillespie; her grandson, Jason Maust; her great-grandson, Justin Cahoon; and a daughter-in-law, Patti Maust.
