Wisconsin DOT updates closure of Hwy. 82 east of the Black Hawk Bridge

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has provided an update on the upcoming nine-day closure scheduled for the section of Wisconsin Highway 82 (WIS 82) that crosses the Mississippi River between Wisconsin Highway 35 (WIS 35) and the Black Hawk Bridge at Lansing.

The WIS 82 nine-day closure is now scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 6 and will be closed through Sunday, June 14. It is planned to reopen WIS 82 Monday, June 15. No other full closures are planned for this project, the remaining work will be completed with single-lane closures and flaggers, as it has been.

During the closure, traffic wanting to cross the Mississippi River between Iowa and Wisconsin will have to do so at Marquette and Prairie du Chien, WI or through La Crescent, MN. Motorists should also be reminded that there is currently single-lane traffic on the bridge at Marquette due to another bridge improvement project there.

The closure has been delayed one week because there is additional, unanticipated work that needs to be completed prior to the work that will occur during the nine-day closure. The original closure had been planned to begin May 29 but will now incur the one-week delay.
