Still time to sign up for Allamakee County Bible Reading Marathon taking place through July 14

Pair of public reading events scheduled to be held July 11 in Lansing and July 14 on Allamakee County Courthouse lawn

The 2020 Allamakee Bible Reading Marathon is continuing to be held now through Tuesday, July 14 as part of the Iowa 99 County Bible Reading Marathon. Residents of Allamakee County can participate by requesting one or more 30-minute segment(s) of Scripture by using one of the following means:

2. Text or call 563-217-9814. This phone number is operational from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday through July 14.

Participants can start reading their chosen segment(s) immediately, completing them at their convenience, wherever and with whomever they wish. As of Monday morning, July 6, 92 of the 156 segments of Scripture have been selected by readers.

The goal of the marathon each year is to read the entire bible throughout Allamakee County from Genesis through Revelation. All are invited to participate and are asked to share this information with their church, family and friends.

PUBLIC READINGS
A reminder to all who are interested that Center Baptist Church of rural Lansing will host a public reading of Scripture as a part of the Bible Reading Marathon in Lansing this Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the corner of Front Street and Main Street in Lansing. Call Sarah Majewski at 563-538-9234 for a time slot if interested in participating in this public reading.

Finally, participants are invited to bring lawn chairs and bibles and join a public reading on the Allamakee County Courthouse lawn in Waukon Tuesday, July 14 at 7:14 a.m. to conclude the marathon with the reading of selected scriptures and prayers.

The numbers, 7:14, coincide with the 2020 Iowa 99 County Bible Reading Marathon focus Scripture, 2 Chronicles 7:14, which reads…

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
