Kee football team opens State Play-Offs with 50-24 home win over Turkey Valley, advances to play at Janesville this Friday

Adding to the total ... Kee football senior Mat Gruber fights off this Turkey Valley defender as he cradles a two-point conversion pass in the Hawks’ 50-24 home victory over the Trojans in the opening round of the Eight-Player State Play-Offs Friday, October 16. In addition to hauling in this two-point conversion pass, Gruber also helped pave the way for the Hawks’ nearly 400 yards rushing in addition to wrapping up a solo tackle on Kee’s front lines. The Kee football team got its 2020 postseason journey off to a strong start in posting a 50-24 home victory over fellow Upper Iowa Conference squad Turkey Valley Friday, October 16. Even though the points on the scoreboard tell the ultimate tale of victory, Kee football coach Chad Winters has no doubt that the Hawk win came at the line of scrimmage, where his offensive line allowed its backfield teammates to rush for nearly 400 yards on the ground and five of Kee’s seven touchdowns on the night.

“We did some great things throughout the game,” Kee football coach Chad Winters said. “The guys up front set the tone for the game as they dominated at the line of scrimmage. Clayton, Hunter, Mat, Goat and Jaylen did an outstanding job at the point of attack all night long. (Juniors) Damon (Weber) and Buddy (Hill) were the workhorses tonight. They did a great job of keeping their feet moving and running downhill. (Junior) Landon (Reams) and (sophomore) Carter (Goetzinger) got in on the action as well, as we knew coming in we had an advantage in the running game.”
