Robert Stahl

Robert James Stahl, 86, of Ham Lake, MN died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Edgemont Place in Blaine, MN. After a long battle with dementia, Bob contracted COVID-19, which ultimately took his life. Due to the COVID-19 situation, a private family burial with military graveside rites was held at the Richland Center Cemetery.

Bob was born March 20, 1934 to Richard and Vernie (Rush) Stahl in Rossville. Bob graduated from Lansing High School and then entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After serving in the military, Bob worked as a crane operator for Brennan Brothers of La Crosse, WI. He then began a career with the Corps of Engineers and went on to be the Lock Master of the Upper and Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam in Minneapolis, MN. He worked for the Corps of Engineers for 40 years and throughout his career was recognized with numerous awards for outstanding workmanship and skill.

Bob was united in marriage with Harriet Stahl August 27, 1960 at the Church of Christ in Richland Center, WI. After living for a short time in Wauzeka, WI, Bob and Harriet moved to Minneapolis, where they have resided since 1962. They had their 60th wedding anniversary this past August. Bob enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin, fishing, boating and enjoying evening campfires.

Bob is survived by his wife, Harriet; his daughter, Robin Stahl of Champlin, MN; his son, Remi Stahl of Blaine, MN; his grandson, Ethan Stahl of Blaine, MN; five brothers: Everett Stahl, Lester Stahl, George Stahl, Allen Stahl and Gary Stahl.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Jean Ann Fahey, Karen Mathis, Loretta May Strong and Alice Strong.
