Kee basketball boys end winless streak of nearly two decades vs. MFL/MarMac, complete sweep of Central and come up a bit short late at UIC-undefeated NFV

The Kee boys basketball team was within one quarter of playing to an undefeated week, winning two of its three games this past week. The Hawks opened the week avenging an early-season loss to MFL/MarMac and snapping a losing streak to the Bulldogs that dated back to 2002 with a 67-62 road triumph Tuesday, January 26. They closed out the week with a split of two consecutive nights of competition, finishing a regular season sweep of Central Elkader with a 65-40 road win Thursday, January 28 before coming up just a quarter short at Upper Iowa Conference-undefeated North Fayette Valley, 60-50, Friday, January 29.

Now holding an 8-9 season record that includes a mark of 7-6 in the Upper Iowa Conference, the Kee basketball boys were next scheduled to host Clayton Ridge Tuesday, February 2 before hosting South Winneshiek, Friday, February 5. The Hawks will then play a Monday, February 8 home non-conference date with East Buchanan before wrapping up their regular season with a Tuesday, February 9 road date at West Central. The Hawks will then prepare for Class 1A postseason tournament play, which is scheduled to begin with preliminary rounds of competition Friday, February 12 at a site and against an opponent to be determined in the near future.
