Charles “Chuck” Andregg

Charles “Chuck” Edwin Andregg, age 70, passed away unexpectedly March 24, 2021 at his home in rural Lansing. He was born March 15, 1951 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon to Edwin and Evelyn (Glaus) Andregg. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon.

Chuck began school in Center Township in a rural schoolhouse, and after second grade, he began to attend school in Waukon. Throughout high school, he was active in football and wrestling. He went on to graduate from Waukon High School in 1969. Chuck and Mary Ann (Nelson) were married December 20, 1969 in Waterloo. Together they welcomed and raised three daughters, Therese, Erin and Renea.

Chuck and Mary Ann farmed for three years before Chuck began his career as a USDA meat inspector for seven years. After that, he returned to his childhood home in rural Lansing and farmed with the James Christensen family for over 30 years. Even after retirement, he worked with neighboring farmers. Recently, he had been working with a good friend helping construct grain bins in addition to managing his own small farm.

Chuck’s love for the outdoors and animals led him to become an avid hunter at an early age. He especially enjoyed coon hunting with friends and family. The countless Bluetick Coonhound dogs he, his wife and his three daughters raised were essential to his hunting hobby. Over the course of his life, he attended many night hunt and dog show competitions. Chuck found great joy spending time with his family - daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He always made time for family and friends and was a mentor to so many around him. Chuck’s kindness, humor, wisdom and presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann; his children: Therese (Kyle) Johnson of Dorchester, Erin Andregg of La Farge, WI and Renea (James) Johanningmeier of Waukon; his sister, Rose (Virgil-deceased) Snitker of Waukon; his brother-in-law, Bernard (Mary-deceased) Pausch of Waukon; several other brothers- and sisters-in-law; his grandchildren, Mariah Andregg, Chelsea and Madeline Hamm, Autumn and Ashlyn Johnson, and Kaia, James, Charles, Mary, Ashton, Edward, Samuel, Thomas, Claudia and Grace Johanningmeier; one great-grandchild, Dominic Foster; and many other beloved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Evelyn (Glaus) Andregg; his sisters, JoAnn (Bud-deceased) Johnson and Mary (Bernard) Pausch; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and many other beloved family members and friends.
