Fashion show this Friday will help LWIB establish local scholarship

The Lansing Area Women in Business (LWIB) organization is hosting its First Annual Fall Fashion Show at Coffee On the River in Lansing this Friday, September 17 from 6-9 p.m. Part of the event proceeds will go toward a scholarship being set up by LWIB. Social hour is 6-7 p.m., and the fashion show starts at 7 p.m.

“Hairdressers in town are pairing with local boutiques so everybody gets in on the action,” says Wendi Wilson-Eiden, co-owner of Coffee On the River with Diana Wilson-Thompson. “And Jim Kerndt has donated one of the rooms upstairs for the models to change; so there’s a lot of special thanks going out.”

Ticket sales are through September 16 and can be purchased at Coffee On The River, Red Geranium, The Gourmet Traveler or online via www.Eventbrite.com (search for Fall Fashion Show with the date). Ticket price for the event includes a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres. Drawings will be held for door prizes, and coupons for businesses in town will be handed out.

“Part of the ticket price will also be going toward a scholarship that the Lansing Area Women in Business are setting up,” Wilson-Eiden notes. “So we’re trying to pay it forward to Lansing all the way around.”

The Entrepreneur Scholarship is specifically designed to help new businesses reach their visions. Application window for the Annual Scholarship will start during the first quarter of the year 2022.

The LWIB group was formed by the many women in the Lansing area who own or work in the area’s businesses with the direct goals of encouraging entrepreneurship with continued support and networking.
